The Travis County Voiture 175 of La Societe Des Quarante Hommes Et Huit Chevaux is composed of members of the American Legion Posts serving the Austin area and is a part of La Grande du Texas. The Society of Forty Men and Eight Horses has a long and interesting history.
Travis County Voiture 175 was chartered in 1924 and it is the only original Charter to still be in control of the same original French Merci Boxcar.
A Promenade is held at on the last Wednesday of each odd numbered month at 7 p.m. at American Legion Knebel Post 83 located at St. Elmo and Todd Lane. The Post 83 mailing address is P.O.Box 17846, Austin, TX 78760-7846.
